Insightful Creator #5 - The Biggest Lies of Modern World

Time to rewrite your worldview. In a controversial way.

Read time: 6 minutes.

Welcome back, creators.

This issue of the newsletter will take more of a psychological approach.

There were several topics that I have been thinking about for several past days now. I was thinking how the Matrix (read: the modern worldsystem) programs every single one last of us to a certain extent.

And by that I do not mean merely school system forcing you to digest useless knowledge and ready you for the dreaded 9-5 for the rest of your life.

No. I want to discuss how the world has programmed your mind passively. Preferably when you were indulging in favorite activities.

The biggest lies of modern world

We could go all on about theories and various concepts that people were trying to discuss over the years - war on Ukraine, lockdown, etc... But I want to discuss something even deeper than that.

You see, we accept some concept as a given - because it seems to be deeply engraved within our mentality.

The thing is, we are accepting years and years of programming... And most of the time we weren't even programmed the right things.

Here are three of my conclusions that I got:

  • Altruism is merely egoism wrapped up in a golden paper

  • Perfectionism is a lie - it's hatred towards randomness and change

  • Most people react, but do not learn

Let me explain what I mean by all of that.

Main problem with altruism

What should introduce us to the concept should be the following:

  • Altruism is the concept of practicing wellfare for other living beings while not seeking personal gain

  • Every single human is egoistic - there is at least one concept that he seeks merely for his own gain

Pretty contradicting... Right? Here is what might shock you even further:

  • An act of granting a present to someone on their birthday is probably egoistical at its core

"Wait, wait Seb what do you even mean by that?"

Lets digest the process step by step so I can explain it to you

  • You buy a present (for your mom as an example)

  • You do buy it to see your mom happy and fulfilled

  • The fundamental humanly need to caring for their tribe members makes you need to look after your close ones

  • The happiness of someone close to you sparks happiness and fulfillment into you too

  • You have gotten dopamine trigger because of the action

And as we all know, humans seek dopamine like crazy.

If something worked once and granted you the dopamine - there is a high chance that you will do it again.

So, as far as the act of giving someone a present might seem altruistic at the exterior - you do it to seek fulfillment of the person you are giving the present to - because you do want to see them happy.

Is that negative thing? No! Not at all. But you need to realise the concept.

True altruism is nonexistent fairytale.

Perfectionism stops you from achieving your fullest potential

Here is why it just can't work:

  • Perfectionism sets the unachievable bar of constant state of energy

  • Randomness and organised chaos is the basic state of the universe

How can one be the same and at the same time evolving? Impossible.

Stagnancy is much closer to perfectionism as the concept - but it contradicts and collides with what the actual world is.

I never seen someone be stuck in the same position for 10 years. Even if almost nothing has changed - something must have been.

Key word - almost nothing.

Change occurs at every moment in our lifes but it's up to us if we harness the potential.

Perfectionism is unachievable state of constant success - while on the other hand mistakes are what makes the success happen.

People do not evolve - they adapt

Learning and reacting are not the same. Knowledge and wisdom are not the same.

Evolution and adapting are not the same.

As much as all of these concepts are almost the same to their brethen, they are not.

"An idiot has one key difference between a wise man. The latter never makes the same mistake twice."

You might have heard that somewhere already. The thing is, have you actually met a person who never made the same mistake twice - in all the mistakes they have ever made?

The answer is probably not. At least that is what I have deducted when I closely observed myself, my friends and people surrounding me.

People do not learn because it forces them to think - and most people do not want to think

Why?

  • Shortened attention spam makes it much harder for most people

  • Free dopamine makes thinking not appealing at all

  • AI, common access to knowledge makes people accept an already discovered concept as a given - without questioning it's righteousness

Open your mind - break free

Your main goal is to become a creator in those hard times.

You need to practice mindfulness, thinking and constantly hone your cognitive abilities by showing yourself up to new challenges.

Read more on that here:

It should give you a rough idea of what I mean by that.

Be unique. Do not follow the crowd that is doomed already.

Stay yourself. Best of luck to you friend - hoping to see you again soon.

Sebastian, out.
