Insightful Creator #12 - Baselines of Twitter Growth
Growth is not linear.
Read time: 3 minutes.
Welcome back, creators
This issue will be about quick, detailed and easily applicable blueprint for Twitter growth - based off each stage of growth.
I've crafted this little beauty mostly after my own experiences, tons of stunned growth days, while being able to succeed often too. It contains what you should do - the don't-do points are not included.
Let's dig in.
Levels of your brand
There are 3 levels that we must specify:
Growth Starters (0 to 100 follows, 5-15% engagement)
Rising Stars (100 to 1,000 follows, 5-10% engagement)
Mini Authorities (1,000 to 10,000+ follows, 5-10% engagement)
Each level has different opportunities, goals and problems. I'll go over each one - in form of an applicable checklist.
What worked at 100 follows won't work at 1,000 - and what worked at 1,000 won't work at 10,000.
Keep that in mind - and let's get into it.
Growth Starters... AKA "The Beginner Hell" (0-100)
This stage is all about making few bigger connections and creating your own uniqueness.
You have to give it all in - people are unlikely to follow small accounts early on if they're bland and similar to typical accounts from that niche.
Not only you need to stand out, but you need to amass solid engagement for starters to begin with.
The Blueprint:
Focus on first impression - you must impress the person who visits your profile... and by alot. This part can easily be solved by your own unique branding.
Basic profile optimisation - people are likely to follow you more early on if your profile looks proffessional. Clear pfp + banner, nice follow-following ratio is what you need.
Link your projects - having a link to the project you're building in your bio will help you... and by alot
Build up your writing habit - all that you must do is write. Alot. Your first comments and tweets will suck - that's why you must focus on adapting to the Twitter enviroment.
Ramp up your engagement - focus on writing 50-100 comments daily. 25 on medium accounts (1k+), 25 comments on big accounts (10k+) and the remaining on small accounts to connect with.
Find your tribe - this is crucial. And it will save you pain from going the lone wolf path. Find a community to become a part of, and then
This will only be as hard as you make it - and it requires you to engage and network relentlessly.
Rising Stars... running towards success (100-1,000)
This stage is much easier, but requires you to work hard nonetheless.
Main focus is connections, and actually skyrocketing.
The Blueprint:
Reiterate your profile - this is extremely important. This should be the last time you assess big changes thorough your brand - so it will become stable later on.
Create systems - you need to systemise your engagement, tweet scheduling now. Use tools for that - or do it manually.
Network relentlessly - become a huge part of your community. Hop on 10-30 DMs daily, meet new people and make friends with them
Engaging posts - questions, shotout lists, various bulletpoint guides - same as relatable or controversial opinions. You must do these
Create a newsletter or blog - Medium or Beehiv are valid and recommended choices. It will help you hone your writing habit and take it to the next level
Create first giveaway - you should create first freebie giveaway, preferably Notion or Loom based. Boost your engagement that way.
Landing page, side projects checklist - get ready to transition from engagement to actually working. Write milestone celebration posts each 100 followers to gain them passively.
This is the stage when you get ready to transition to final writing model.
Mini Authorities... Path to Becoming Big Creator (1,000-10,000+)
This is where you leave this beginner mindset and focus on actual work.
Switching from previous to this stage is often proven to be the hardest though - so watch out.
Network big time - Twitter Spaces, big communities and DMing big accounts is your best bet.
Monetise - perfect your DM game, after releasing freebies create a sales funnel and begin tunelling your service through it.
Create a landing page - both for monetising, showing off your products and newsletter. Handy to have.
Focus on content more - engagement won't be the way soon. You're a small authority and constantly writing comments will not get you as far as good thread.
Expand to other platforms - whether it's YT Shorts, YT, TikTok or Instagram (even LinkedIn) all options sound good. I'm in middle of doing that.
Optimise - cut the fluff from your writing, reiterate on your schedule. You need to save time if you want to make money
Mindset shift - stop thinking in terms of likes and followers. They're temporary - so build an E-mail list.
If you manage to compound this, you'll make money and be taken to 10,000 easily with giveaways and case studies.
It's a rough estimated checklist you should follow - I do and the results have been great so far.
Mind that there will be days of no growth at all - from various external factors. Everyone experiences them, no matter on which stage.
That said, I hope this template helps you fill in the gaps in anything you might have had your mind on.
I will see you in a week.
Seb, out.
