Insightful Creator #1 - Productive Edeavours

Productivity and consistency is the foundation of long term success.

Read time: 4 minutes.

Greetings creators.

Time is a wealth that cannot be replicated, given back or produced.

It can only be used to achieve something meaningful or wasted by not doing anything productive.

Productivity. That is the key word for today.

You can't buy back time. But you can make the most of it.

Some backstory...

I am a 17 year old high school student. Getting top grades while barely trying. Although school is a big waste of time so I do try to focus most of my time off school in building something meaningful.

My personal minimal daily goals consist of:

  • Building my Twitter account for at least 3 hours daily,

  • Calinesthics workout of 40 minutes minimum

  • Learning a skill for 30 minutes minimum

  • Reading books

  • Chess

  • Building valuable writing content for around 45 minutes minimum

And let me tell you this right now. This is hardly achievable without the right mindset.

Luckily, you can attain it pretty easily.

How do I stay productive?

Let's not get ahead of ourselves and start by the basics.

Prioritising certain tasks will help you to decide which one you should put most of your focus on.

What do I mean by that? Let me explain.

You can hardly bridge perfect diet and heavy intensity workout days with the days on which you work on your business.

Sure, you can bridge the tasks of both. But you cannot bridge both days together in one.

You need to choose which task you are going to focus on each day.

Here is what I recommend. Create an actionable to-do lists in which you sort your priorities by:

  • The amount of energy needed to accomplish them,

  • The amount of time needed to finish them,

  • Their overall end result value.

Put the hardest, most demanding and rewarding tasks on the top and try to finish them first.

Incorporate such to-do list into your daily schedule.

Organizing your daily schedule.

"Alright Seb, I have made a to-do list but how do I actually stay organised and make it into a daily schedule?"

One of most important aspects of actually being productive is to organise your to-do lists.

You have to find those windows of free time in your day (even if those are 10 minutes long) and work around them.

How you may ask? Well, you see your time schedule can be a little more flexible than it may seem. You can try to put a task 15 minutes long into 10 minutes long free time window and stretch the boundaries of how much free time you have around that.

It might not seem that convincing nor actionable advice, but it is definitely possible.

Imagine that you have 30 minutes free time to do a workout 40 minutes long. But before it you have to send cold emails.

Cut those 5 minutes from sending them and put them right after doing a workout.

Condense the quality of each activity for it to take less time.

You can achieve that with deep work, mentioned further down the line.

I personally recommend using Notion/Google Notes to write long term schedules and lists or simply download a mobile app called Habitica. It is slim, and allows you to checklist every single task while setting personal reminders for certain hours.

Here are mine tips to boost your productivity even more:1. Remove all of the distractions

One of the most important reasons for which most people do not get that much done in their free time is free dopamine.

Social media, YouTube, snacking... It would take way too long to count them all.

Try to identify your own distraction triggers and remove them.

Creating a productive workspace is one of the keys to achieving your goals.

2. Multi tasking = burning out quicker

Do not try to multitask unless you absolutely have to.

I know too well how it feels to be constantly motivated, feeling like you could conquer the world...

But you are not going to do it while eating your breakfast, writing an article, watching YouTube and talking to your colleague simultaneously.

Same applies with working on many things at once too. You won't do more work. You will simply reach burn out point.

Solution?Focus on one thing. Bore yourself intentionally if you lack creativity or motivation to do so.

3. Get familiar with the concept of "deep work"

These days everyone seems amazed by the Pomodoro learning technique...

But in reality it barely gives results.

What does give results is deep working on one specific thing.

Attention spam of most people is decreasing expotentially year by year from prolonged usage of social media and instant gratification.

But you can boost your productivity by prolonging your attention spam.Get familiar with book "Deep Work" by Cal Newport.

You'll thank me later.

Even the richest people in the world also have a 24 hour day.No amount of money can buy you more time. But it is entirely on you to make the most of the time that you are given.
